Maison et Objet is one of the biggest events on the interiors calendar and, in its 20th year, it certainly did not disappoint. The exhibition has established itself as a trend-setting decor Mecca, with key exhibitors such as Tom Dixon and House Doctor choosing to debut their new collections each year. Its sheer vastness and scope is matched only by the variety and high calibre of exhibitors that are on show throughout its many halls.

It is hard to summarise the key trends for the SS15 season without making nods to geometrics in galactical forms, 80s inspired animal print, bold neon floral, metallics and a nod to the Miami-style flamingo. But a key trend is the pastel from hues of mellow mint to pleasant pink.

You can bring this trend right through from Spring to Summer with accents of metallic. Claudia Baille, Interiors Editor for the Sunday Times Style had an interesting take on the transition from copper to brass.

“Brass was the material of the moment at this year’s Maison et Objet furniture fair. Taking over from, or even combined with former favourite, copper, it was seen on both on tableware and  accessories as well as an accent on larger pieces of furniture. Brushed and polished finishes were popular, and I’m coveting pots and serving spoons from Ferm Living, which showcase the trend  perfectly, as well as the amazing range of desk accessories from Beyond Object.”

What to use this trend in your home for SS15? Use a combination of blue, green and peach accents but grounded with black and as seen at House Doctor and Bloomingville.

Give your dinner table a glamorous make-over with warm metallics, from metallic placemats to warm gold toned cutlery and pastel toned metallic accessories.

Try to use metallic to add a touch of glam to each room wherever you can. Use key feature lighting like Bloomingville’s copper table lamps and geometric pendants for added  metallic impact.
